The pieces in “elemental” reflect specific past memories of mine and at the same time represent one of the elements earth, fire, water or air. “sandcastles” for example are the ones we made as children on the beaches of Lake Huron in Canada. “tahquamenon” is a fantastic set of waterfalls we visited long ago in Northern Michigan. The vast field of dandelions in the Hill‘s backyard…..the embers from many campfires….
The piano has been part of my life for a very long time, with some pauses here and there. I have experimented with various genres of music the past several years, but "elemental“ has been my journey back to the roots.
